Polyester Prices Are Rebounding In China (Mid-Week Update)

6 November 2008 - Polyester staple fiber prices bottomed out since the start of the week in China, following a rebound in glycol prices in Asia. Chip prices surged while filament prices also started recovering. The rebound in prices could rapidly end, however, given the low level in demand from the textile industry.

Textile Trade Protectionism May Rapidly Spread In 2009

4 February 2009 - There are new signs emerging of rampant textile trade protectionism, as a result of falling export sales in Asia, Latin America, and elsewhere in the world. Import restrictions were recently imposed by Argentine, Turkey, Indonesia or Egypt while a series of anti-dumping investigations were being launched on the polyester market. The most controversial development could however affect the United States where a Buy American provision was introduced in the Obama Stimulus Plan for restricting procurement of certain uniforms to only 100% US goods.
